Haato, 5 Ridgewood Close
"... they make the most amazing waffles: thick, wonderfully crisped
latticed circles dripping with melted butter and treacly maple
syrup. Top with ice cream and a cup of very good, roasty Grinders
coffee. There're even board games to help you fritter your (company)
time."

"And Haato has won hands down twice - one for
the best matcha gelato on this side of town, and again for the
one-and-only black sesame gelato that reminds me of my ma's
scrumplicious black sesame paste (芝麻糊)."

Must try:
Affogato, $4. A shot of espresso is
poured over a scoop of gelato. The sweet and bitter flavours keep
customers coming back for more. The cafe also serves a variety of gelato
flavours (left, $3 for single scoop and $4 for double), pastas and other
dishes such as udon with braised pork. |

GELATO HEAVEN AT HAATO, RIDGEWOOD by Hattie Liew

 |
"The range of gelato flavours here leave you
spoilt for choice, and the food is definitely value for money. However
due to its inaccessibility, it's necessary for those who do not know the
area to be armed with a car and a map to get there."

FOOD by Florence Fong & Angeline Tse

"We love the earthy sweet potato-chestnut blend rich with smooth
puree and pearls of tender chestnuts. Inspired by a popular anime series
of the same name, the honey and clover boasts a hint of treacle honey
chased by a refreshing chamomile kiss ..."

SWEET JAPAN
 |
Must-try: Green Tea gelato with plain waffle, $6. The combination of
warm waffle and cold gelato is delicious; the gelato is aromatic and not
sickly sweet. |

FOODIE CONFIDENTIAL - MS JUDY CHOW (DIRECTOR OF MARKETING, ANIMAX)
“In Singapore, I go to the Japanese-style Haato shop at Wheelock Place. In fact, Animax just asked Haato to
create a honey and clover-flavoured gelato to launch our latest anime series, Honey and Clover. It’s infused with
wild blossom honey and camomile, and it’s just amazing.”
From “Sweetest Things – Singapore’s Best Desserts” (Edition 2005)
RATED - PLATINUM
“One of the first ice-cream counters to offer today’s ubiquitous gelato… continues to churn out freshly made
gelato of premium-platinum quality. Free from artificial colouring & preservatives, you’ll enjoy –among many others –
the silky smoothness of the Durian Speciality, the simplicity of the Milk Ice Cream, the traditional sweetness of the
Japanese Green Tea with Red Bean, and the utter delight of the Sweet Potato with Honey and Chestnuts.”
